2024: My Reflection
Jan 02, 2025Ah, 2024—what a rollercoaster! There was plenty of good, a fair share of "not-so-good," and a whole lot of life doing its thing. Somewhere along the way, I stumbled across a quote that feels like it was written just for me:
“It will never be perfect. Make it work.” – Life
This little gem is going up on the wall at the clinic because, honestly, that’s what we did this year—we made it work. Was it easy? Heck no. Were there sacrifices? Absolutely. (Cancelled trips, delayed our wedding) But we pulled it off.
We moved into our new home last spring, and after months of playing “Which box is the spatula in?” I think I’ve finally figured out where most things are. The real highlight? Ally, my daughter, moved back home this summer to start university, which means three of our five kids now have bedrooms under our roof.
There’s something magical about hearing all the chatter, laughter, and occasional sibling squabbles. Watching our kids create their own memories together? That’s the good stuff—the stuff that fills your heart (and occasionally your grocery cart a little too much).
On the business side, 2024 was a wild ride. I dove headfirst into learning, expanding my knowledge to help clients decode the mysterious messages their bodies are sending. Whether it’s someone trying to quit nicotine or navigating the chaos of hormonal shifts, I’ve made it my mission to help them understand what their bodies are saying. (Spoiler alert: bodies don’t lie, but they do love to whisper in confusing ways.)
Geek alert: I love this stuff. I mean, who wouldn’t get excited about the science of what’s happening inside us? Okay, maybe not everyone. But me? Totally my jam.
Now let’s talk about the sheer volume of 2024. I wrote three health programs, two VIP three-month transformation programs, hosted live workshops in Calgary and Terrace, stayed in 17 different cities (some of them more than once), and rearranged my craft room three times. (Yes, crafting is self-care. Fight me.)
But let’s be real: 2024 was also exhausting. I poured so much into my work that by the end of the year, I felt like my energy tank was running on fumes.
So, for 2025, I’m choosing a new theme—and my word for the year is BALANCE.
It’s been a while since I picked a word to guide my year, but this time it feels non-negotiable. Balance won’t just be about work and home; it’ll be about:
- Choosing when to work in my business versus on my business.
- Prioritizing my health and self-care.
- Swapping a few work trips for extra camping trips (because marshmallows are way more fun than spreadsheets).
- Finding ways to maximize my productive hours so I can sneak in more downtime.
I’m aiming for the sweet spot where ambition meets joy—where hustle doesn’t crowd out happiness.
Here’s to 2025: a year of balance, more laughter, and maybe even finally keeping my craft room organized for more than two months. (But let’s not get too ambitious.)
How about you? What’s your word or theme for the new year? Let’s make 2025 the year we don’t just survive—we thrive
With purpose and power, we pivot
